Chef Gord Mackie

With a career spanning more than 25 years, Chef Gord Mackie has travelled the world and learned in the kitchens of culinary greats such as Anthony Walsh, Michael Bonacini, Jamie Kennedy, Mark Thuet, Jean George Vonrichten, Anton Mossiman, Jean Christophe Novelli, Marco Pierre-White and Gordon Ramsay. Gord first discovered his passion for food as a boy, when he and his dad took a cooking class together at Niagara College. A childhood spent working weekend functions for his family’s catering business primed Gord for a life-long commitment to cooking.

Gord began his career as an apprentice chef at the Windsor Arms Hotel in Toronto, followed by private dining club, The Founders Club at the SkyDome. Later, he moved on to London, UK , where he worked in the kitchens of Anton Mossiman’s Belfry Club, the Four Seasons and Vong, to name a few. Upon returning to Canada, Gord joined the Oliver Bonacini restaurant group where he became Chef de Cuisine at Canoe atop the TD Tower in Toronto.
Gord has led the culinary development of SIR Corp’s Signature Division for over 20 years. In that time Gord has had the opportunity to further explore the world, drinking in a rich variety of cuisines, learning techniques hands-on from artisans and craftsmen in their region of origin, especially Italy.

Gord believes the basic principles of cooking are to always use the freshest, most authentic ingredients and prepare them in the style that truly celebrates their flavour. His true passion lies in the simplicity of Italian cooking and his latest, the cuisine at Edna + Vita has been a true expression of years of experience and love for the art of cooking. Every dish showcases Gord’s energy, passion and personal style into shareable Italian dining. With fresh made in house primi pastas, bone in veal parmesan and lasagna made to order Gord believes there is always room for one more bite.
